Glucuronolactone

What it is

A compound your body makes from glucose, also found in small amounts in some plant gums.

Why it is in energy drinks

Found in several well-known energy drinks, marketed for endurance and detox.

Worth knowing

In 2009 the European Food Safety Authority reviewed it together with taurine and concluded the amounts used in energy drinks were not a safety concern. Evidence that it adds energy on its own is limited.
